This beautiful scenic village is located in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. Jorepokhri (Jorepokhari) is a tiny hill station. It is located 19 kms from Darjeeling Town. It is located at an altitude of 7400 ft. “Jor” means two and “Pokhkri” stands for a lake or water tank. Jorepokhri is however not only about lakes. There is a beautiful pine forest around the place. Jorepokhri is a part of the Senchal forest and is a natural reserve.
How to reach:
Jorepokhari / Jorepokhri is 78 km. away from New Jalpaiguri & 22 km. from Darjeeling. Tourists can hire car from both the places to get in this beautiful village. One can reach Jorepokhari from New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri through Hill Cart road or Mirik road as well. If scenic beauty is the main concern, then the best option is going through Mirik road & you can take a halt at mirik for refreshment.

The weather remains comfortable around the year. During winter the temperature varies from 6 degree to 15 degree and during summer the temperature rises till 20 degree approximately.

Roun the year tourist can visit Jorepokhri except the rainy season. The best time to visit Jorepokhri is between March to May & October to December.
Must See Local Attaractions:
You can pay a visit at the Jorepokhri Lake , in the water tanks you might be able to see the rare Himalayan Salamanders, which were once considered to be totally extinct and were found to be living here in Jorepokhri since 1964. During the rainy season chances are relatively higher of spotting these creatures.
You can even catch the magnificent view of the Himalayan landscape with the Darjeeling and Kurseong Town in the backdrop. There is also a view point that offers a beautiful and eye soothing view of the entire area.
There are so many tourist attractions around Jorepokhri / Jorepokhari. Darjeeling (22 km.), Mirik (25 km.), Ghoom (14 km.), Lepchajagat (6 km.), Manebhanjan (5km.) are few of those tourist destination around Jorepokhri. Trekkers can enjoy the famous Sandakphu trek from Manebhanjan, which is 5 km. away from Jorepokhri.
Foods and Delicacies:
There is a small eatery near the place where evening snacks and delicious breakfasts are easily available. The entire area is maintained by GTA (Gorkhaland Territorial Administration/DGHC).
Where to Stay:
Salamander Tourist Lodge also known as the GTA Tourist Lodge which is usually availed by the VIPs these days. However there are few other accommodations providing budget staying including attic rooms facing the mountains with full wood paneling.
Jorepokhri being a small area it can be covered within a day or two and is ideal for a short weekend trip.
