The Royal Calcutta Golf Club is the 2nd oldest Golf Club outside UK after St. Andrews. It was established in 1829 and in 1911; King George V and Queen Mary conferred the title of ‘Royal’ on the course, in order to commemorate their visit.

The U.S. Consulate in Calcutta, founded on 19th November, 1792, is the second oldest consulate of the U.S Department of State. It is located on the Chowringhee Road, near Maidan.
